IT HELPS WHEN THE CAR CHECKS ITSELF.

The "Vehicle Health Report" provides information on the current status of the vehicle, for instance before a journey. It lists warning notices and due or overdue maintenance events and also archives them. In addition, the current status of driver assistance systems is displayed. The Vehicle Health Report can be requested automatically or manually.

Vehicle Health Report

  • Automatically creates reports after a certain period of time or after a set distance
  • Sends notifications via email or SMS as soon as an automatically generated vehicle report has been created
  • If a manual vehicle report is requested, this will be created as soon as the car goes online
  • Shows status information such as tyre pressure, fluid levels, brake wear and service intervals
  • Provides information on warning notices and maintenance intervals

WHAT YOU NEED TO USE CAR-NET.

DISCOVER MEDIA’ OR ‘DISCOVER PRO’ NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

The ‘Discover Media’ navigation system features a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) touchscreen. The 2D and 2.5D map view permits route selection using three criteria (fast, short, economical). The system allows your mobile phone to be easily linked to the vehicle with the help of Bluetooth® wireless technology.

The ‘Discover Pro’ system displays 3D maps on a large 20.3 cm (8-inch) touchscreen. In addition, the destinations can be conveniently selected using voice command.

Car-Net portal.

The Apps and Services from Volkswagen Car-Net are not only pioneering in terms of their features, but also the way in which they are operated. Once you have ordered the Car-Net services for your vehicle and registered your vehicle on the Car-Net portal, all you need to do is activate the service in the vehicle. You can then plan your next journey from the comfort of your sofa. View relevant vehicle information on the screen of your computer or tablet and conveniently access your settings via the online Car-Net portal.

CONNECTION TECHNOLOGIES

WLAN CLIENT.

A mobile phone tariff with sufficient data volume is required to use the WLAN client. The system connects to the Internet via your smartphone’s mobile hotspot. Depending on your mobile phone tariff and especially when being used abroad, additional costs may be incurred (e.g. roaming fees) when receiving data packages from the Internet. Use the links to download instructions on how to pair your smartphone and find out more about infotainment.

Discover Media
Discover Pro

OR

‘PREMIUM’ RSAP AND MOBILE PHONE INTERFACE.

The Car-Net Apps and Services can also be used with the ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system in conjunction with the ‘Premium’ mobile phone interface. The integrated telephone module makes it possible to connect to the Internet when you insert a data SIM card in the slot.

Instead of using an extra SIM card, you can also use the data tariff on your smartphone, as long as it is Bluetooth®-compatible and has the remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). Check the compatibility of your mobile phone here.

Discover Pro

OR

UMTS CARSTICK.

The UMTS CarStick requires its own SIM card with sufficient data volume. The WLAN hotspot works in this way and is independent of the smartphone connection. The link will redirect you straight to the product in the Volkswagen E-shop.

Frequently asked questions.

Service hours:

1. What information does the report contain?

At the time of generation, the vehicle health report contains not only the vehicle data (vehicle identification number, mileage (km)) but also certain statuses of the warning lamps in the instrument cluster (a selection, e.g. bulb defective) and information about the next service requirement.

2. How do I obtain the report?

By requesting it manually on the Car-Net portal. It can always be viewed their in your user account area in the large tile "Vehicle health report". The following are required: successful registration on the Car-Net portal and successful pairing of your smartphone with your vehicle or a SIM card in your vehicle so that there is a mobile network connection. All the necessary data can then be acquired and the Report can be prepared.

3. Can I print out the Report?

Yes, you can download every report as a PDF and then print it out.

4. Can I upload the Report onto my own PC?

No, this is currently not possible.

5. Will I always see only the most up-to-date report?

No, all the prepared reports are archived and retained for 24 months. The memory capacity is limited to 150 Vehicle health reports.

6. One functional area is shown in yellow in the overall view even though most of the functional groups are green. Why is this?

The status display in the overview always refers to all the functional groups in a functional area. As soon as one function group is yellow or red, this affects the status of the functional area. This means you can see where the faults are on the first page of the report.

7. Do I need to follow the information in the header and the recommendations in the message line?

This is a recommendation, not a stipulation. Please observe the notice in your car manual. The direct display in the vehicle and the notice in the car manual are the leading medium. However, we recommend that you observe all notices and instructions to prevent major damage to your vehicle, particularly in the case of serious system malfunctions. It should also be noted that ignoring malfunctions can place you and others in danger.

8. Does my vehicle always send the latest information?

The information will be sent automatically to the Car-Net portal only if you have configured time- or distance-based vehicle health reports. This is possible shortly after the engine is switched off, for example, if there is a mobile network connection at this time. Therefore, if you do not start your vehicle for five days, for example, then the data will be five days old. It should also be noted that any vehicle damage or malfunctions that occur after the vehicle is switched off will not be recorded. Unnoticed damage such as on the underbody may mean, for example, that engine oil may have leaked out after the engine was switched off, although the Vehicle health report displays the accurate engine oil level. If you have not configured automatic vehicle health reports, you must manually request the report on the Car-Net portal. Your vehicle will send the current information only when you have done this.
