DON'T MISS A THING BEFORE THE JOURNEY.

"Personal POI" makes it possible to import existing places of interest (POIs) into the vehicle’s navigation system before the journey begins. Außerdem können einzelne Sonderziele kategorisiert und zu einem Paket zusammengefasst werden.

Personal POI

  • Permits the creation of individual POI packages such as filling stations or restaurants
  • Categorises POIs using freely selectable text and clear icons
  • Imports personal POIs into the vehicle’s navigation system before the journey begins

WHAT YOU NEED TO USE CAR-NET.

DISCOVER MEDIA’ OR ‘DISCOVER PRO’ NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

The ‘Discover Media’ navigation system features a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) touchscreen. The 2D and 2.5D map view permits route selection using three criteria (fast, short, economical). The system allows your mobile phone to be easily linked to the vehicle with the help of Bluetooth® wireless technology.

The ‘Discover Pro’ system displays 3D maps on a large 20.3 cm (8-inch) touchscreen. In addition, the destinations can be conveniently selected using voice command.

Car-Net portal.

The Apps and Services from Volkswagen Car-Net are not only pioneering in terms of their features, but also the way in which they are operated. Once you have ordered the Car-Net services for your vehicle and registered your vehicle on the Car-Net portal, all you need to do is activate the service in the vehicle. You can then plan your next journey from the comfort of your sofa. View relevant vehicle information on the screen of your computer or tablet and conveniently access your settings via the online Car-Net portal.

CONNECTION TECHNOLOGIES

WLAN CLIENT.

A mobile phone tariff with sufficient data volume is required to use the WLAN client. The system connects to the Internet via your smartphone’s mobile hotspot. Depending on your mobile phone tariff and especially when being used abroad, additional costs may be incurred (e.g. roaming fees) when receiving data packages from the Internet. Use the links to download instructions on how to pair your smartphone and find out more about infotainment.

Discover Media
Discover Pro

OR

‘PREMIUM’ RSAP AND MOBILE PHONE INTERFACE.

The Car-Net Apps and Services can also be used with the ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system in conjunction with the ‘Premium’ mobile phone interface. The integrated telephone module makes it possible to connect to the Internet when you insert a data SIM card in the slot.

Instead of using an extra SIM card, you can also use the data tariff on your smartphone, as long as it is Bluetooth®-compatible and has the remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). Check the compatibility of your mobile phone here.

Discover Pro

OR

UMTS CARSTICK.

The UMTS CarStick requires its own SIM card with sufficient data volume. The WLAN hotspot works in this way and is independent of the smartphone connection. The link will redirect you straight to the product in the Volkswagen E-shop.

1. What are “personalised POIs”?

“My points of interest” are individual or several locations on a map which could be of importance to users. This would include for example facilities such as hotels, petrol stations, car parks, hospitals or sights and the addresses of personal or business contacts. “Personalised POIs” are individual or several locations that users can enter into the navigation device themselves and that are then displayed on the map as small icons.

2. What is the difference between the "My points of interest" service and "Online destination import"?

The “My points of interest” service works exclusively with lists. As such, full lists with address information are always sent to the vehicle. You can put these lists together yourself or download them from different portals on the internet. With the “Online Destination Import” service only one address is explicitly used.

3. Where can I get a personal POI list?

You have the option of downloading lists of POIs from various web portals and websites, for example all petrol stations under a particular brand in your federal state, or public administrations. You can also put together your own lists on your computer, for example a family list with the addresses of all of your relations.

4. How do I load my POIs into my vehicle?

First, your Personal POI List must be saved locally on your computer. Clicking the “Upload Online POIs” button opens a selection window. This window allows you to browse to the corresponding list on the computer and to upload it by clicking on the “Open” button. The file is checked for the correct data format and is then stored on the Car-Net portal. You can then transfer the lists to your vehicle using the “Send list to my vehicle” button.
When you next turn on the ignition in your vehicle and a mobile network connection is set up, the lists will be downloaded automatically to your vehicle and will then be available for you.

5. Can I receive my points of interest while on the move, e.g., if my partner sends me lists from home?

Yes, this is possible as long as there is a mobile connection. However, you will not receive the list automatically while driving, but will need to confirm it manually.

6. How many lists can I save or send to my car?

You can send a maximum of 50 lists containing a total of 250,000 entries to the vehicle. The maximum list size should be 8 MB and the total volume should not exceed 100 MB.

7. I downloaded a list from a website and found when navigating that the addresses were imprecise and sometimes wrong. Why is that?

The provider is responsible for the addresses and contents of downloaded personal POI lists. It may be that the supplier provided inaccurate coordinates or the map material is no longer current.

8. Is it possible to send uploaded personal POI lists to all my vehicles at the same time?

No, this is not possible. You must select vehicles individually and can then only send the list to one vehicle at a time.

9. What list formats are supported by Car-Net?

You can used the following formats for the lists without any problems:
- .asc (TomTom, Igo, Navigon)
- .csv (Route66, Garmin, Navman)
- .gpx (Garmin)
- .kml (2.0, Google)
- .kmz
