With our Car-Net service "Charging Stations" you will arrive at your destination relaxed without any detours. The service finds the next available electric charging station and allows dynamic route guidance within your navigation.

  • Offers a detailed overview of all charging stations in the vicinity of the driver
  • Navigates to the selected electric charging station or integrates it into route guidance
  • Provides information about the power supply, availability and distance from charging points
  • Offers the option to save the destination to be used for later navigation

WHAT YOU NEED TO USE CAR-NET.

DISCOVER MEDIA’ OR ‘DISCOVER PRO’ NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

The ‘Discover Media’ navigation system features a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) touchscreen. The 2D and 2.5D map view permits route selection using three criteria (fast, short, economical). The system allows your mobile phone to be easily linked to the vehicle with the help of Bluetooth® wireless technology.

The ‘Discover Pro’ system displays 3D maps on a large 20.3 cm (8-inch) touchscreen. In addition, the destinations can be conveniently selected using voice command.

Car-Net portal.

The Apps and Services from Volkswagen Car-Net are not only pioneering in terms of their features, but also the way in which they are operated. Once you have ordered the Car-Net services for your vehicle and registered your vehicle on the Car-Net portal, all you need to do is activate the service in the vehicle. You can then plan your next journey from the comfort of your sofa. View relevant vehicle information on the screen of your computer or tablet and conveniently access your settings via the online Car-Net portal.

CONNECTION TECHNOLOGIES

WLAN CLIENT.

A mobile phone tariff with sufficient data volume is required to use the WLAN client. The system connects to the Internet via your smartphone’s mobile hotspot. Depending on your mobile phone tariff and especially when being used abroad, additional costs may be incurred (e.g. roaming fees) when receiving data packages from the Internet. ‘PREMIUM’ RSAP AND MOBILE PHONE INTERFACE.

The Car-Net Apps and Services can also be used with the ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system in conjunction with the ‘Premium’ mobile phone interface. The integrated telephone module makes it possible to connect to the Internet when you insert a data SIM card in the slot.

 

Instead of using an extra SIM card, you can also use the data tariff on your smartphone, as long as it is Bluetooth®-compatible and has the remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). Check the compatibility of your mobile phone here.

UMTS CARSTICK.

The UMTS CarStick requires its own SIM card with sufficient data volume. The WLAN hotspot works in this way and is independent of the smartphone connection. The link will redirect you straight to the product in the Volkswagen E-shop.

1. Is the cost of charging displayed?

No, unfortunately this is currently not possible. The only information displayed is whether charging is free or not.

2. What information is displayed?

In addition to the destination address and telephone number, the number of charging stations and whether they are available or in-use is displayed. Opening times, plug types and the available power types are also displayed. You can also see whether the stations are for public use or only for specific members or customers.

3. How up-to-date is the available/in-use status?

The available/in-use status is updated almost in real time.

4. Can I filter the results according to the availability of charging stations?

No, unfortunately this is not possible.

5. Is navigation to the required charging station possible?

Yes, when you select a charging station from the list, the address data is automatically entered as your destination in the navigation system.

6. Does the system also show me what amenities there are in the area while the vehicle is charging, such as restaurants or shops?

No, this is not displayed in the "Charging stations" service. However, you do have the option of checking this information through the "Online POI search" service.
