Customer Services
0800 333 666

1. Who pays the charges for the call?

The call is free of charge for you. Volkswagen AG pays the charges for you.

2. What is the difference between the Breakdown Call and the Emergency Call?

The Breakdown Call is designed for relatively minor accidents without any personal injury, e.g. punctures or situations where your Volkswagen has broken down.

The Emergency Call Service (red button) covers serious accidents and personal injuries. You can also use it to report accidents in which you are not involved yourself (as an accident witness, first-aider, etc.).

3. What is the advantage of this Service?

With the Breakdown Call, you can request assistance if there has been a breakdown. A Breakdown Call consists of a combination of a data transfer and a voice call. The data transfer involves the latest vehicle and positional data communicated at the time of the Breakdown Call being communicated to the Volkswagen Roadside Assistance service. This gives your contact important information so that they can help you faster and more selectively by identifying the cause of the problem and providing the appropriate help.

4. What data is transmitted with this Service?

The Service transmits information about your vehicle, such as the mileage, current warning lamps and error messages in your Volkswagen. It also transmits the time and location from where the Breakdown Call was triggered, so that your breakdown assistant knows exactly where to find you. This is particularly useful if you break down in a non-residential area and cannot say exactly where you are (e.g. on a country road in the dark when on holiday).

5. Is my data collected continuously by Volkswagen, so that they can produce movement profiles if required?

No, no movement profiles are created. The vehicle only transmits your location when the Breakdown Call is triggered. This means that, while you are using your vehicle normally, no information about your location is saved.
