Customer Services
0800 333 666

1. What is the advantage of this Service?

With the "Area Alert" Service, you can check whether the allocated vehicle is being used inside or outside a geographical area that you define.

2. How do I set the relevant area?

You can only create an area for the first time in the Customer Portal. As soon as you have done so, you can also access this service using the Car-Net app.

3. How many areas can I set?

You can set up to ten areas.

Please note, however, that only up to four areas can be active at the same time.

4. How do I receive the notification?

In order to be notified if the vehicle crosses a defined and activated boundary, you must have specified the information channel beforehand. The available information channels are push messages and email notifications.

5. Is an infringement displayed in the vehicle, too?

A pop-up message may appear in the infotainment system display every time the ignition is switched on, stating that the vehicle is being actively monitored. This message disappears only when the driver confirms that they have read it by pressing the corresponding button in the infotainment system.

This message appears only if the "Area Alert" function has been activated on the Customer Portal before switching on the ignition. If the function is only activated after the ignition is switched on, the message will not appear until after the ignition has been switched off.

6. How many areas can be set for notifications?

The vehicle user uses the Customer Portal or the app to specify up to ten areas and active times, during which their vehicle may not leave the areas (green areas) or may not enter certain areas (red areas) without triggering a notification.

7. How often are notifications sent about the areas?

The schedule and the areas can be set optionally on a one-off or a recurring basis.

8. How precisely can the area be defined?

You define the boundaries of an area by drawing the geographical area directly on the map. But please note, the area must be circular or rectangular and cannot follow actual national boundaries.
