WHAT YOU NEED TO USE CAR-NET.

DISCOVER MEDIA’ OR ‘DISCOVER PRO’ NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

The ‘Discover Media’ navigation system features a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) touchscreen. The 2D and 2.5D map view permits route selection using three criteria (fast, short, economical). The system allows your mobile phone to be easily linked to the vehicle with the help of Bluetooth® wireless technology.

The ‘Discover Pro’ system displays 3D maps on a large 20.3 cm (8-inch) touchscreen. In addition, the destinations can be conveniently selected using voice command.

CUSTOMER PORTAL.

The Apps and Services from Volkswagen Car-Net are not only pioneering in terms of their features, but also the way in which they are operated. Once you have ordered the Car-Net services for your vehicle and registered your vehicle on the customer portal, all you need to do is activate the service in the vehicle. You can then plan your next journey from the comfort of your sofa. View relevant vehicle information on the screen of your computer or tablet and conveniently access your settings via the online customer portal.

CONNECTION TECHNOLOGIES

WLAN CLIENT.

A mobile phone tariff with sufficient data volume is required to use the WLAN client. The system connects to the Internet via your smartphone’s mobile hotspot. Depending on your mobile phone tariff and especially when being used abroad, additional costs may be incurred (e.g. roaming fees) when receiving data packages from the Internet. Use the links to download instructions on how to pair your smartphone and find out more about infotainment.

or

‘PREMIUM’ RSAP AND MOBILE PHONE INTERFACE.

The Car-Net Apps and Services can also be used with the ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system in conjunction with the ‘Premium’ mobile phone interface. The integrated telephone module makes it possible to connect to the Internet when you insert a data SIM card in the slot.

Instead of using an extra SIM card, you can also use the data tariff on your smartphone, as long as it is Bluetooth®-compatible and has the remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). Check the compatibility of your mobile phone here.

Discover Pro

or

UMTS CARSTICK.

The UMTS CarStick requires its own SIM card with sufficient data volume. The WLAN hotspot works in this way and is independent of the smartphone connection. The link will redirect you straight to the product in the Volkswagen E-shop.

1. What is an RSS feed?

An RSS feed is a direct news channel from the respective provider directly to you. Whenever the respective provider publishes an article, it is sent via this channel and you then receive a notification from practical auxiliary programs or Internet sites. You receive all the articles, as you would with a newspaper subscription.

2. Which news outlets can I subscribe to?

You can subscribe to any RSS feeds free of charge, provided that you have their correct feed URL (Internet address), e.g. the RSS feed of the Volkswagen Group http://www.volkswagenag.com/content/vwcorp/info_center/de/news/news.rss.xml/feed-rssconfig/index.rss

Volkswagen AG hereby declares explicitly that no illegal contents were recognizable on the linked pages at the time when this link was created. Volkswagen AG has no influence over the contents of RSS feeds that the user loads independently on to the portal and into the vehicle.

3. How can I have the news sent to my vehicle?

After successfully searching for the URL, you can store it in the Car-Net portal. You can then send the RSS feed to the vehicle by clicking on "Add". Assuming that there is an existing mobile network connection in your vehicle, these feeds can then be accessed in the infotainment system of your vehicle. To do so, press the "NAV" infotainment button to navigate to the Car-Net function button. Then click on the News function button to gain access to all the news you have subscribed to.

4. How many new subscriptions can I store?

You can store up to 10 RSS feeds in your vehicle.

5. Can I read the news even while I'm on the road?

Yes, in Europe there is approval to use the Service even when you're on the road.

6. Can I delete feeds?

Yes, but this is only possible via the Car-Net portal and not in the vehicle itself. There are two different types of deletion - removing feeds that are already available in the vehicle or completely deleting a feed from your User account.

When you click on the Delete button in the vehicle list, the feed is removed from the vehicle but remains in the Car-Net portal, so it can easily be resent to the vehicle. This is useful if you have reached the maximum number of feeds and, for example, would temporarily like to swap two different feeds.

To delete a feed completely from your User account, it must first be removed from the vehicle and can then be deleted completely using the "Delete feed" button (waste-paper basket symbol).
