WHAT YOU NEED TO USE CAR-NET.

DISCOVER MEDIA’ OR ‘DISCOVER PRO’ NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

The ‘Discover Media’ navigation system features a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) touchscreen. The 2D and 2.5D map view permits route selection using three criteria (fast, short, economical). The system allows your mobile phone to be easily linked to the vehicle with the help of Bluetooth® wireless technology.

The ‘Discover Pro’ system displays 3D maps on a large 20.3 cm (8-inch) touchscreen. In addition, the destinations can be conveniently selected using voice command.

CUSTOMER PORTAL.

The Apps and Services from Volkswagen Car-Net are not only pioneering in terms of their features, but also the way in which they are operated. Once you have ordered the Car-Net services for your vehicle and registered your vehicle on the customer portal, all you need to do is activate the service in the vehicle. You can then plan your next journey from the comfort of your sofa. View relevant vehicle information on the screen of your computer or tablet and conveniently access your settings via the online customer portal.

CONNECTION TECHNOLOGIES

WLAN CLIENT.

A mobile phone tariff with sufficient data volume is required to use the WLAN client. The system connects to the Internet via your smartphone’s mobile hotspot. Depending on your mobile phone tariff and especially when being used abroad, additional costs may be incurred (e.g. roaming fees) when receiving data packages from the Internet. Use the links to download instructions on how to pair your smartphone and find out more about infotainment.

or

‘PREMIUM’ RSAP AND MOBILE PHONE INTERFACE.

The Car-Net Apps and Services can also be used with the ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system in conjunction with the ‘Premium’ mobile phone interface. The integrated telephone module makes it possible to connect to the Internet when you insert a data SIM card in the slot.

Instead of using an extra SIM card, you can also use the data tariff on your smartphone, as long as it is Bluetooth®-compatible and has the remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). Check the compatibility of your mobile phone here.

Discover Pro

or

UMTS CARSTICK.

The UMTS CarStick requires its own SIM card with sufficient data volume. The WLAN hotspot works in this way and is independent of the smartphone connection. The link will redirect you straight to the product in the Volkswagen E-shop.

1. How does the "My points of interest" Service differ from "Online Destination Import"?

The "Online Destination Import" Service always explicitly uses only one destination address, which is entered beforehand and is displayed on a map in the Car-Net portal. This procedure is comparable to destination address selection in a conventional navigation system. The advantage here lies in the more convenient selection and input of the destinations using your computer. The "My points of interest" Service, on the other hand, works exclusively with lists. This means that complete lists with address data are always transmitted to the vehicle. You can draw up these lists yourself or download them from various portals.

2. How do I specify an online destination in the Car-Net portal, and how do I than transfer it to the vehicle?

In the "Online Destination Import" area in the Car-Net portal, you can search for a destination using a free-text search or by entering a precise address. You can then store one or several destinations from the displayed list of hits by clicking on the "Save" button in the Car-Net portal. You can then send all your destinations to your vehicle by pressing the button with the corresponding symbol (vehicle with arrow). If you would like to send the destination directly from the list of hits to your vehicle, this is also possible with the same button. The sent destination is automatically saved in the Car-Net portal at the same time.

When you next turn on the ignition in your vehicle and a mobile network connection is set up, the sent destinations will be downloaded automatically to your vehicle and will then be available for you.

3. What data do I receive about a selected destination?

The destinations contain a name and address, as well as the geographical coordinates for internal processing within the device (provided that it was possible to assign the address uniquely via the Car-Net portal).

4. What are the advantages of this Service?

You have the option of selectively sending navigation data and addresses from your computer to the vehicle before starting your journey. This means that you can conveniently search for the precise addresses of tourist attractions, such as the Brandenburg Gate, or your hotel and restaurants before starting your journey, and send them to your vehicle.

5. How many destinations can I save in the vehicle?

In total, there are 500 memory spaces available. However, they are used not only for navigation and online destinations, but also for your telephone contacts.
